Books I Have Been Reading Recently

"The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho

I am almost halfway through this book and I think it is quite philosophical in a way. The book is about a shepherd boy who chose his career path based on the advice given by his father after he told his father that he wanted to travel the world. The boy learns about a treasure that he is to discover in Egypt. He meets a king who advises him about many things including following one's personal legend. The king also gives him some precious stones and tells him to pay heed to the omens. The king urges him to go find the treasure. So the boy sells his sheep and goes to find the treasure but he is robbed in a foreign land and so he works for eleven months in a crystal shop and when he saves enough he decides to buy sheep again and start his work again but he has second thoughts. He thinks that he can become a shepherd anytime he wants but he can only go for the treasure now. This is what I have read until now and I am intrigued.

"The Power of Your Subconscious Mind" by Joseph Murphy

I have just read around 20% of this book but I have found it thus far to be very enlightening and informative. The book talks about how we can accomplish anything if we just believe in it. The book says that if the conscious mind believes something strongly, then the subconscious mind makes it happen. The subconscious mind cannot differentiate between right and wrong, logical and illogical, truth and false, it just takes whatever you give it and makes it come true. The book suggests that our subconscious is most active when we are in a state of physical inertia. The book gave many examples of people who were healed from blindness, cancer, skin disease, paralysis, etcetera with the help of their subconscious mind. I am loving the book so far and can't wait to try out some of the suggestions.

"Rich Dad Poor Dad" by Robert Kiyosaki

I have read only a few chapters of this book so far but I plan on finishing it soon. The book starts off with the author telling us about how in his childhood he started taking mentorship from his friend's dad along with his friend himself. How his friend's dad is the rich dad and how his own dad is the poor dad. The author tells us that his own dad was very educated and yet was poor whereas his friend's dad was not educated yet he employed people and ran his own business. The book talks about how most people buy liabilities thinking that they are assets and that to be rich, you need to buy assets and not liabilities. The book is very interesting and educational.
