Books I Have Been Reading Recently (Part 6)
"SantaLand Diaries" by David Sedaris
This book is about a guy who works at Santaland as an elf. This guy is also the narrator of the book and he talks about his life in Santaland, about the customers who are mostly parents with young children, about his colleagues, etc. The book is quite short and has only 3 parts. I have completed the first 2 parts and I fell asleep while reading the 3rd part, so I have to read it again. Was reading this book as a part of my Christmas TBR but the book is a huge disappointment, it was boring and repetitive. I am listening to it on an audiobook format and I will complete it soon. I will most likely rate this book a 2/5 stars or I might DNF the book.
"The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly" by Sun-mi Hwang
This book is only about 150 or so pages and so I will complete it really soon hopefully. The book is about a hen who wants at least one of her eggs to hatch. As soon as she lays her eggs, they are taken away from her, so she refuses to lay anymore eggs to stop this endless cycle. Finally, she escapes the coop life but she is not welcomed by the yard animals, she lives alone and one day she finds an egg which she incubates. I have read only until this point but I think the story is quite promising. It reminds me of "Animal Farm" and "Black Beauty". I am listening to this book too in an audiobook format and I'll most likely rate it a 4/5 stars or 3/5 stars, let's see!
"The Magician's Secret" by Charles Townsend
I just started reading this book but it is really interesting. The book is about Delvin who is accused of stabbing a magician - Borlock. But it was not Delvin who did it but another magician - a magician of the Guilds. Delvin is initially found guilty and is sentenced to be hanged to death. But he escapes and then Borlock regains consciousness and announces that it was not Delvin but another magician. I have read only until this point but the book has been great so far. It is fast-paced, the characters are interesting, the world building is great too. I am reading this book on Kindle and I still have a long way to go in the book but I have a feeling that I might end up liking it and rating it a 4/5 stars.
