Where does beauty lie?

Where does beauty lie? Is it in the quietness of the mountains Or the noise of the fountains? Where does beauty lie? Is it in the calmness of the sea Or the flowers that you see? Where does beauty lie? Is it in the greyness of the sky Or the birds that fly? Where does beauty lie? Is it in the greenness of the grass Or the paths that you pass? Where does beauty lie? Is it in the depths of the ocean Or the words that remain unspoken? Where does beauty lie? Is it in the tall trees Or the blowing breeze? Where does beauty lie? Is it in the nearby nooks Or the brilliant books? Where does beauty lie? Is it in the dreams of the maiden Or the thoughts that are fading? Where does beauty lie? Is it in the busy roads Or the unfulfilled hopes? Where does beauty lie? Is it in the starry skies Or the electric eyes? Where does beauty lie? Is it in the songs of the birds Or the poems of the bards?

The Downside of Attractive

Ever wondered if conventionally attractive people have it better or worse than the average looking person? I thought about this a little and so I observed the lives of conventionally attractive people and found certain things. In some cases, attractive people had it better than others: they were able to make more friends of both genders, they were able to build trust faster, they were able to succeed at their studies/work and I think this had something to do with their looks too since other people thought subconsciously that since these people are good-looking, they are clever too and so other people treated them in a way that suggested that they are clever and so they themselves believed that they are clever and carried themselves in a way so that they would actually remain clever while also taking actions which would result in them getting the results that a clever person is expected to get. But these were people who were attractive but not the most attractive people in their class/g...

The Post COVID World

I do strongly believe that if something has the power to shake the world as we know it, that power will not only influence the present but also the future. When the pandemic hit, it changed everything: people switched to work from home, schools & colleges started taking online classes, exams were online, people lost jobs, people died because of the corona virus, etc. But now, even though we have come past all that since now many companies are either working from the office or having a hybrid work setting, schools & colleges have resumed normal classes in a physical setting, I feel like the pandemic changed us and we still carry that change with us. The change I see is honesty, acceptance, rawness - I can't quite find a word to describe it but these are the closest words to the phenomenon I see. When I say honesty I mean speaking up our minds, after the pandemic people seem to have become more frank, more open, they speak their mind without being conscious of the effect that...

The Real Meaning of Failure

Everyone associates failure with negative emotions, weakness, incompetence etc. But is that what failure truly means? Because everyone at some point or another is going to fail at something. So why is something that is so natural considered to be so bad. What if we saw failure from a different perspective. Maybe, failure shows that the person at least had the courage to try something new, something different. Maybe failure shows that the person had the courage to take risks. Maybe, the person who failed had other things going on in which he/she did well, but they failed at this one thing. But the meaning of failure does not stop here yet. It's true meaning comes from how we respond to it. When we fail at something big, we are consumed by it, we wallow in self-pity. At this point, we have two choices:  To let this failure, define our whole identity. To transform ourselves and become better than what we were before this failure.  According to Victor E Frankl's...
