Where does beauty lie?

Where does beauty lie? Is it in the quietness of the mountains Or the noise of the fountains? Where does beauty lie? Is it in the calmness of the sea Or the flowers that you see? Where does beauty lie? Is it in the greyness of the sky Or the birds that fly? Where does beauty lie? Is it in the greenness of the grass Or the paths that you pass? Where does beauty lie? Is it in the depths of the ocean Or the words that remain unspoken? Where does beauty lie? Is it in the tall trees Or the blowing breeze? Where does beauty lie? Is it in the nearby nooks Or the brilliant books? Where does beauty lie? Is it in the dreams of the maiden Or the thoughts that are fading? Where does beauty lie? Is it in the busy roads Or the unfulfilled hopes? Where does beauty lie? Is it in the starry skies Or the electric eyes? Where does beauty lie? Is it in the songs of the birds Or the poems of the bards?

The Downside of Attractive

Ever wondered if conventionally attractive people have it better or worse than the average looking person? I thought about this a little and so I observed the lives of conventionally attractive people and found certain things. In some cases, attractive people had it better than others: they were able to make more friends of both genders, they were able to build trust faster, they were able to succeed at their studies/work and I think this had something to do with their looks too since other people thought subconsciously that since these people are good-looking, they are clever too and so other people treated them in a way that suggested that they are clever and so they themselves believed that they are clever and carried themselves in a way so that they would actually remain clever while also taking actions which would result in them getting the results that a clever person is expected to get. But these were people who were attractive but not the most attractive people in their class/g...

The Post COVID World

I do strongly believe that if something has the power to shake the world as we know it, that power will not only influence the present but also the future. When the pandemic hit, it changed everything: people switched to work from home, schools & colleges started taking online classes, exams were online, people lost jobs, people died because of the corona virus, etc. But now, even though we have come past all that since now many companies are either working from the office or having a hybrid work setting, schools & colleges have resumed normal classes in a physical setting, I feel like the pandemic changed us and we still carry that change with us. The change I see is honesty, acceptance, rawness - I can't quite find a word to describe it but these are the closest words to the phenomenon I see. When I say honesty I mean speaking up our minds, after the pandemic people seem to have become more frank, more open, they speak their mind without being conscious of the effect that...

The Real Meaning of Failure

Everyone associates failure with negative emotions, weakness, incompetence etc. But is that what failure truly means? Because everyone at some point or another is going to fail at something. So why is something that is so natural considered to be so bad. What if we saw failure from a different perspective. Maybe, failure shows that the person at least had the courage to try something new, something different. Maybe failure shows that the person had the courage to take risks. Maybe, the person who failed had other things going on in which he/she did well, but they failed at this one thing. But the meaning of failure does not stop here yet. It's true meaning comes from how we respond to it. When we fail at something big, we are consumed by it, we wallow in self-pity. At this point, we have two choices:  To let this failure, define our whole identity. To transform ourselves and become better than what we were before this failure.  According to Victor E Frankl's...

Book Review of 'The Nocturnal Devil: A Griffin Knight Mystery Thriller (The Griffin Knight Series Book 3)'

Image
This was a spectacular book yet again. This is my third book from the author Miguel Angel Hernandez Jr and I can say that the author never fails to write a great mystery thriller. This book again had Griffin Knight as the detective. And the case is of two missing women – Melanie & Manuela. Melanie is a freelance journalist who just lost her husband. Manuela works at a gym. The mortuary is on the same street as the gym. And Melanie goes missing from that street as she had last gone to the mortuary. Manuela was also last seen leaving working and is also believed to be abducted from her street of work. So these two women have this in common: they were abducted from the same location. But this theory is soon proven wrong when Melanie’s house is searched and they find signs of a struggle which suggests that she might have been abducted from her house. But this might also be a cover-up to hide the real location from which she was abducted. Meanwhile, Griffin’s arch enemy Sapphire from th...

BOOK REVIEW: A COLOSSAL INJUSTICE - A GRIFFIN KNIGHT CORPORATE MURDER MYSTERY BY MIGUEL ANGEL HERNANDEZ JR

This book was one of the most thrilling novellas that I have read. All the new characters in this book such as: Isabella, Sapphire, Dylan, Aurora etc were interesting and kept me on edge. I had somewhat guessed that Sapphire might be the one stealing the company's money, but I never imagined that Isabella would be the killer. Isabella seemed like a soft woman and a graceful type of lady initially, but later I was shocked when it was revealed that she was as wicked as Sapphire. I felt very sorry for Kalyx and Aurora since they both lost someone who they loved. Griffin as always was the star of the show since he found Isabella's diary and also got Sapphire arrested. Although I was a bit unsatisfied with the ending because both Isabella and Lorenzo had escaped, and it seemed as though Sapphire too would evade justice once again. I would have liked it better if Sapphire, Isabella and Lorenzo were put behind bars, but maybe that would have been a very cliché ending to this very un...

Book Review: Do Nothing by Miguel Angel Hernandez Jr

Image
This was a quick read. The book revolved around a series of murders in which the targets were seemingly unrelated people: A high profile lawyer and a drug dealer. Until it turns out that the murders are similar to the ones that happened 7 years ago. Detective Griffin consults an older detective who worked on the earlier cases and is able to connect more dots as he also learns that the lawyer and the drug dealer are indeed connected by a case in which the lawyer was the defense attorney and the drug dealer was a witness for the defense. The next target of the killer is the judge who was also involved in the same case which had led to the conviction of this killer who is now released and is taking revenge as he was convicted despite of his innocence. Detective Griffin comes to the rescue and saves the day in this page turning thriller! I was extremely satisfied with the ending of the book since justice was served from all angles because even the company who had wrongly framed one of thei...
